Before you know it, it's time for intermission. Fresh lemonade! Then as dusk settles over the little white church, the candles are lit and the show continues bathed in the warmth of candlelight. It just doesn't get any better than this! |
Learn more about the Old West Church |
Jeff Warner, folklorist, banjo and concertina player, will be featured at the 10th Annual Old West Church concert in Calais, Vermont. With warmth, humor and understated scholarship, Jeff Warner connects 21st century audiences with the music and everyday lives of 19th century people. He presents musical traditions from the Outer Banks fishing villages of North Carolina, to the limber camps of the Adirondack Mountains and the whaling ports of New England. The Calais Concerts, organized by Deb Flanders, have highlighted the traditional music of New England for the past decde in honor or Helen Hartness Flanders, one of the pioneers of folkhistory in the U.S. This concert will also pay tribute to Jeff's parents Ann and Frank Warner who were devoted and renowned collectors in the musically fertile areas of the Southern Appalachians, the NorthCarolina Outer Banks, Tidewater Virginia, New England and Upstate New York. |
